The Airlaw static filter top microisolator cage for scientific breeding and management of small animals

 

The Airlaw animal isolator cage (The cage) is designed to house breeding families of various rodents for laboratory use

  • The cage has been designed jointly by Airlaw and the John Curtain School Of Medical Research at the Australian National University (ANU) Canberra
  • The cage has a lid that incorporates a changeable filter that can be supplied in various pore sizes. The standard filter is 50-micron non-woven polyester. (99.9% at 10 micron)
  • The lid to base overlap creates a Petri-dish type seal that creates a barrier to the ingress of pathogens.
  • The unique Airlaw feed grid provides excellent security when the lid is removed and does not in any way affect the sealing of the lid.
  • The polymer parts, that is the lid the base the feed rack and the filter support frame, are made from high heat polycarbonate allowing autoclaving at 135 Deg C (typical time at this temp. is 12 minutes) for a minimum of 100 cycles.  

SPECIFICATIONS

 

MATERIAL     The polymer used is a high temperature Polycarbonate capable of being autoclaved at 135 Deg C for 12 minutes for a minimum of 100 times. For washing use detergents and other chemicals at recommended concentrations. do not use detergents with citrus or other vegetable oil additives. Polycarbonate is degraded in time with exposure to strong alkalis. This includes animal urine, which must be washed away before autoclaving
